Civil Marriage

Any couple with adequate legal and mental ability can electronically submit a multilingual English-Arabic template for performing and registering their civil marriage, simplifying the civil marriage process. The application must be accompanied by all necessary paperwork, including a passport copy, a residency visa, an Emirates ID, and other official documents that state the parties' religions and that they are not currently married, among other things. Electronic payment options are also available for court costs.

- A photocopy of each party's passport - A duplicate of each person's Emirates ID (if applicable)
- If previously wed, evidence that the union has been dissolved (eg. divorce judgment or death certificate)

What are the conditions?

The conditions that must be met for the marriage application to be approved are as follows: –

1. Both parties must provide their consent
2. Both parties must be at least 18 years’ old
3. The parties must not be related by the first or second degree
4. The parties must not be married to any other person

What are the contexts?

The following requirements must be satisfied in order for the marriage application to be approved: -

1. Both parties need to provide their approval.
2. A minimum age of 18 must be met by both parties.
3. The parties shall not be first- or second-degree relatives.
4. Neither party may be married to anybody else.
